Batch Numbers (Lot Numbers)
Batch Numbers allow you to track inventory by individual batches or lots, making it easier to trace products, manage recalls, and sell stock from a specific batch.
Note: In previous versions of IsleBooks POS, this feature was called Lot Numbers. The functionality remains the same.
Enabling Batch Numbers
Go to Settings → Business Settings → Purchases.
Enable Batch Numbers.
Save your changes.
Once enabled, Batch Number fields become available throughout the inventory system.
Recording Batch Numbers
Batch numbers can be entered whenever stock is added to inventory.
From Purchases
When creating a purchase:
Go to Purchases → Add Purchase.
Add your products.
Enter the Batch Number for each purchase line.
Save the purchase.
Each batch is stored separately and can optionally include expiry information if Product Expiry Tracking is enabled.
From Opening Stock
When adding Opening Stock:
Go to Inventory → Products.
Select Opening Stock for the product.
Enter the quantity.
Enter the Batch Number.
Save the opening stock.
Selling Products from a Batch
When Batch Numbers are enabled and multiple batches are available for a product, IsleBooks POS allows you to select the batch during a sale.
During checkout:
Add the product to the sale.
Select the desired Batch Number from the available list.
Complete the sale.
If Product Expiry Tracking is also enabled, the available batches display their expiry dates to help you choose the correct batch.
Batch Numbers on Invoices
The selected Batch Number is printed on the sales invoice, allowing customers and your business to identify exactly which batch was supplied.
This is particularly useful for:
Pharmaceuticals
Food and beverages
Cosmetics
Medical supplies
Manufacturing businesses
Product recalls
