Adding Products
Products are the foundation of your inventory and sales. IsleBooks POS allows you to create different types of products, manage stock, assign locations, and configure pricing to suit your business.
Adding a New Product
Go to Inventory → Products → Add Product.
Complete the product information.
Click Save.
Product Information
Product Name
Enter a descriptive name for the product.
Brand
Select the product's brand, if applicable.
Unit
Choose the unit of measurement, such as Pieces, Kilograms, Liters, or Boxes.
Category & Sub-category
Assign the product to a category and optional sub-category to keep your inventory organized.
SKU (Stock Keeping Unit)
The SKU uniquely identifies each product.
You can:
Enter your own SKU.
Scan or enter an existing manufacturer barcode.
Leave the field blank to let IsleBooks POS automatically generate a SKU.
Configure a prefix for automatically generated SKUs.
Tip: If your product already has a barcode printed by the manufacturer, simply enter or scan that barcode into the SKU field. IsleBooks POS will use it throughout purchases, sales, reports, and barcode scanning.
Not for Selling
Enable Not for Selling to prevent the product from appearing on the POS or Sales screen.
This is useful for:
Restaurant Recipe items when using restaurant mode
Raw materials
Internal-use items
Temporarily unavailable products
Alert Quantity
Set the minimum stock level that will trigger a low-stock alert.
Enable Stock Tracking
Enable this option to track inventory quantities.
Disable it for products that do not require stock management, such as:
Services
Repairs
Consultations
Digital products
Business Locations
Select the business locations where the product can be purchased or sold.
Applicable Tax
Choose the tax rate that applies to this product.
Taxes can be created and managed under Settings → Taxes.
Product Types
IsleBooks POS supports three product types.
Single Product
Choose Single Product for products without variations.
For each product, you can configure:
Purchase price
Selling price
Selling price (including tax)
Profit margin
If you enter a profit margin, IsleBooks POS automatically calculates the selling price.
You may also manually enter the selling price, and the system will recalculate the profit margin automatically.
Variable Product
Variable products are products available in different options, such as:
Size
Color
Flavor
Design
Material
Creating Variation Templates
Before creating a variable product, create your variation templates under:
Inventory → Variations
Examples:
Size → Small, Medium, Large
Color → Red, Blue, Green
Variation templates can be reused across multiple products.
Adding a Variable Product
Select Variable Product.
Choose one or more variation templates.
IsleBooks POS automatically generates the variation list.
Enter the purchase price and selling price for each variation.
You may also rename variation values if required.
Copy Prices to All Variations
To apply the same purchase price, selling price, or profit margin to every variation, click the double tick (✓✓) icon beside the first variation.
Combo (Bundle) Product
Combo products combine multiple products into a single item.
Example:
Computer Set
1 Monitor
1 CPU
1 Keyboard
1 Mouse
When the Computer Set is sold, the stock of each individual item is automatically deducted.
Stock Calculation
The available stock of a bundle depends on the product with the lowest available quantity.
Example:
Monitor: 5
CPU: 4
Keyboard: 10
Mouse: 50
Available Computer Sets: 4
Important Notes
Bundle products cannot be purchased directly.
Purchase the individual products instead.
Individual products can still be sold separately.
Products with Multiple Attributes
Some products have more than one attribute, such as Color and Size.
There are two recommended approaches.
Option 1 – Combined Variation
Create a variation named Color-Size.
Example values:
Red - Small
Red - Medium
Red - Large
Blue - Small
Blue - Medium
This allows every combination to exist as a single variation.
Option 2 – Multiple Products
Create separate products for each primary attribute.
Example:
Shirt - Red
Shirt - Blue
Shirt - Green
Each product can then contain Size as its variation.
To save time, create one product first and use Duplicate Product to copy it, changing only the required details.
Selecting Specific Variation Values
You do not need to use every variation value.
When creating a variable product:
Select the variation template.
Choose only the variation values you want to use.
Example:
Variation:
Color
Available values:
Red
Blue
Green
Yellow
You may select only:
Red
Blue
The remaining values will not be created for that product.
Using Existing Product Barcodes
If a product already has a manufacturer barcode, there is no need to create a new one.
Simply:
Go to Inventory → Products → Add Product.
Complete the product information.
Scan or enter the existing barcode into the SKU field.
Save the product.
The barcode can then be used throughout IsleBooks POS, including:
POS
Purchases
Sales
Barcode scanning
Reports
Stock management
Managing Products
After creating a product, you can:
Edit product details
Duplicate products
Activate or deactivate products
Assign or remove business locations
Export products to CSV, Excel, or PDF
These options are available from the Product List screen.
