Setting Up Restaurant Table Ordering
Restaurant Table Ordering allows customers to browse your menu, place orders from their own phone by scanning a QR code, and send those orders directly to IsleBooks POS.
Each restaurant location has its own menu, QR code, and menu URL.
Before You Begin
Before enabling table ordering, ensure you have:
Enabled the Restaurant Module.
Configured the location as a Restaurant Location.
Created your restaurant tables and floor plan.
Added your products and assigned them to the correct categories.
Configuring Customer Menu
Go to:
Settings → Customer Menu
Select the restaurant location you wish to configure.
Each location maintains its own independent menu settings.
Publishing the Menu
Enable:
Publish this location's menu
Once enabled, customers can access the online menu using the generated QR code or menu link.
If disabled, customers will see a Menu Not Available message.
Custom Menu Link
Optionally customize the public menu URL.
Example:
/menu/burger-house
If left blank, IsleBooks automatically generates a unique menu link.
Customize the Menu Appearance
You can personalize each restaurant's menu by configuring:
Background Color
Choose the primary background color.
Accent Color
Used for buttons and highlighted elements.
Text Color
Choose the text color that provides the best readability.
Tagline
Display a short message below the restaurant name.
Examples:
Freshly Prepared Every Day
Authentic Italian Cuisine
Family Restaurant
Hero Image
Upload a banner image that appears at the top of the customer menu.
Alternatively, click Generate with AI to create a promotional banner automatically.
QR Code Ordering Security
Enable:
Only Allow Orders from the QR on Display
When enabled:
Customers must scan the QR code displayed at the table before placing an order.
QR codes automatically rotate every five minutes.
The menu link remains valid for approximately 10 minutes after scanning.
Once an order is placed, customers can continue using the menu during their dining session.
This helps prevent customers from sharing table QR codes with people outside the restaurant.
If disabled, customers can freely access the menu using the public menu link, making it suitable for takeaway or delivery ordering.
Saving Your Settings
After configuring the menu, click Save Settings.
The menu becomes immediately available using the restaurant's QR code and menu URL.
Customer Ordering Flow
Once configured, the customer experience is simple:
Customer scans the table QR code.
The restaurant menu opens on their phone.
Customer browses products.
Customer places an order.
The order appears in IsleBooks POS.
Staff can review, send items to the kitchen, and manage the order as normal.
Best Practices
Publish the menu only after reviewing product names, descriptions, and prices.
Upload a high-quality hero image to improve the customer experience.
Use a custom menu URL that matches your restaurant's name.
Enable Only Allow Orders from the QR on Display for dine-in restaurants to prevent unauthorized ordering.
Disable QR restrictions if the menu will also be used for takeaway or online ordering.
