RESTAURANT SETTINGS

Restaurant Settings

Restaurant Settings allow you to configure service charges, tips, kitchen behavior, split bills, and kitchen stations for each restaurant location.

Go to:

Restaurant → Settings

Service Charge

Service Charge is automatically added to restaurant orders before payment.

Default Service Charge

Enter the default percentage to apply to every new restaurant order.

Example:

  • 0%

  • 5%

  • 10%

The service charge is automatically added when a new table or restaurant order is created.

Taxable Service Charge

Enable Service Charge is Taxable if service charges should be included in GST or other tax calculations.

If disabled, the service charge remains outside the taxable amount.

Choose the option that matches your local tax regulations.

Tips

Enable Allow Tip if customers are allowed to leave gratuities.

Tips are entered by the cashier during payment.

Tips are recorded separately from the sale amount and are never taxable.

Split Bills

Enable Allow Split Check to allow restaurant bills to be divided between multiple customers.

This adds the Split Bill option within the restaurant POS.

Kitchen Behaviour

Confirm Before Sending to Kitchen

Enable this option if staff should confirm an order before it is sent to the Kitchen Display System (KDS).

When disabled, orders are sent immediately.

Default Kitchen Station

Specify the fallback kitchen station.

If a product category is not assigned to any kitchen station, orders are automatically routed to this station.

Example:

kitchen

Expediter Screen

Enable Show Expediter Screen if your restaurant uses an expediter to coordinate orders between multiple kitchen stations.

The expediter screen provides a consolidated view of all incoming kitchen orders.

Small restaurants with a single kitchen station can normally leave this disabled.

Waiter Commission

Restaurant Settings also control how waiter commissions are calculated.

Include Tip in Commissionable Base

Enable this option if waiter commission should include customer tips.

If disabled, tips remain separate from commission calculations.

Kitchen Stations

Kitchen Stations allow restaurant orders to be automatically routed to different preparation areas.

Examples include:

  • Kitchen

  • Grill

  • Cold Bar

  • Drinks

  • Dessert

  • Pizza

  • Bakery

Each station has its own Kitchen Display Screen (KDS).

Creating a Kitchen Station

  1. Go to Restaurant → Settings.

  2. Scroll to Kitchen Stations.

  3. Click Add Station.

  4. Configure the station.

  5. Save your changes.

For each station you can configure:

  • Station Name

  • Station Slug

  • Product Categories

  • Receipt Printer (optional)

  • SLA (Preparation Time)

  • Station Role

Product Categories

Assign one or more product categories to each kitchen station.

Examples:

Kitchen Station

Categories

Grill

Burgers, Steaks

Cold Bar

Juices, Soft Drinks

Pizza

Pizza

Dessert

Cakes, Ice Cream

Whenever an order is sent to the kitchen, IsleBooks automatically routes each line item to the correct station.

SLA (Preparation Time)

Optionally specify the expected preparation time for each station.

Example:

  • Grill — 20 minutes

  • Pizza — 15 minutes

  • Drinks — 5 minutes

This helps staff monitor kitchen performance.

Receipt Printer

If a kitchen receipt printer is configured, tickets can be printed automatically for that station.

Best Practices

  • Create separate kitchen stations for different preparation areas.

  • Assign every food category to a kitchen station.

  • Configure a default kitchen station to prevent uncategorized items from being missed.

  • Enable Split Bills if customers commonly pay separately.

  • Enable the Expediter Screen only if your kitchen operates multiple preparation stations.

  • Configure service charges and tip handling according to your restaurant's policies and local regulations.
