Product Serials / IMEIs
Product Serials / IMEIs allow you to track every individual unit of a product throughout its lifecycle—from purchase to sale, warranty verification, and after-sales support.
This feature is ideal for businesses selling products with unique identifiers, such as:
Mobile phones
Tablets
Laptops
Televisions
Home appliances
Power banks
Medical equipment
Any product with a serial number or IMEI
Tip: Product Serials / IMEIs work best when combined with Product Warranties, allowing warranties to be tracked for each individual unit.
Enabling Product Serials / IMEIs
When creating or editing a product:
Go to Inventory → Products.
Create a new product or edit an existing one.
Enable Serial / IMEI Tracking.
Save the product.
Once enabled, every unit of that product can be assigned its own unique Serial Number or IMEI.
Recording IMEIs During Purchases
When purchasing products with Serial / IMEI Tracking enabled:
Go to Purchases → Add Purchase.
Select the supplier and business location.
Add the product to the purchase.
Click the Serials button beside the purchase line.
In the popup, click Generate IMEI Fields.
Enter or scan the Serial Numbers or IMEIs for each unit received.
Click Save.
Complete the purchase as normal.
Each unit is recorded individually and added to inventory.
Recording IMEIs for Opening Stock
If you are importing existing inventory into IsleBooks POS:
Open Opening Stock for the product.
Click Serials.
Enter the Serial Numbers or IMEIs for each unit.
Save the opening stock.
Each unit becomes available for future sales and warranty tracking.
Selling Products by IMEI
When selling a product with Serial / IMEI Tracking enabled:
Open the POS.
Add the product to the sale.
A Serial / IMEI selection window automatically appears.
Select the quantity to sell.
Search for or scan the required Serial Number or IMEI.
Select the unit(s) to be sold.
Complete the sale as normal.
Only the selected Serial Numbers or IMEIs are removed from inventory.
Warranty Tracking
When Product Warranties are enabled, the warranty period begins automatically when the product is sold.
Each warranty is linked to the specific Serial Number or IMEI, making it easy to identify the exact unit purchased by the customer.
Searching for a Product
You can search for a sold or stocked product using its Serial Number or IMEI.
Go to:
Inventory → Serials / IMEIs
Search using:
IMEI
Serial Number
Invoice Number
The system displays information such as:
Product
Current Status
Business Location
Purchase Information
Sale Information
Customer
Warranty Details
Warranty Expiry Date
This is useful for warranty claims, repairs, product verification, and inventory audits.
